Reserve seats for women passengers: Traffic Police to public transporters

‘Apart from fine, violators to face cancellation of route permit’


Srinagar, Dec 02 (KNS): The traffic Police on Saturday issued an advisory to the bus and mini bus drivers and conductors, asking them to reserve seats for the women passengers.
According to the statement issued to KNS, Superintendent of Police (SP) Traffic City, Tahir Saleem said that drivers and conductors of all Public Service Vehicles viz. buses or mini buses shall ensure that seats reserved for women are actually occupied by the women passengers. “In case Women is not travelling in the buses, mini buses, the seats may be occupied by male passengers who shall vacate these seats in case any Women boards the vehicles en-route at any station,” he said.
He said that noncompliance of this condition shall make the permit holder liable for action under MV Act / rules which, apart from fine and penalties, may result in suspension / cancellation of route permit vide Government order No. 75 TC of 2016 dated 03.06.2016. (KNS)
