DFP concerned over political prisoner’s plight

Appeals HR watch dogs to take strong note

Srinagar, Nov 11 (KNS): Expressing deep concern over the plight of its incarcerated chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah and all other political prisoners of Kashmir in different jails, Jammu Kashmir Freedom Party has appealed justice loving Indian civil society and freedom loving nations of the world to raise their voice in favour of Kashmir and Kashmiries.
In a statement issued to KNS, the party said that Shabir Shah was arrested from Srinagar on July 25 under baseless cases and since then he is facing very tough situation in the infamous Tihar jail, Delhi. “Despite Shabir Shah was already suffering from many ailments he is not being provided any medical assistance which has increased his physical disorders hence endangering his life,” the spokesman said.
He said that the irony is that Shabir Shah and others are not being provided the rights which they have as political prisoners. “Shah is a political leader and he by way of his clean politics is representing the political aspirations of the majority population of Jammu and Kashmir. The way Shabir Shah and other political prisoners are being treated in different jails is aimed only to suppress the democratic voice of the people,” he said.
The party has said that all political prisoners of Kashmir are undergoing very terrible situation however apart from Shabir Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Nayeem Khan, Pir Saifullah, Nayeem Khan, Shahid ul Islam, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Mairaj uld din Kalwal, Javed Ahmad, Kamran Yousuf and Zahoor Ahmad Watali languishing in Tihar jail are facing horrifying times.
DFP Jammu Kashmir has appealed the human rights watch dogs like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, to take strong notice of the Kashmiri prisoners and play positive and practical role in restoring their rights and their honourable release. (KNS)
