Ahead of hearing on Article 35-A, shutdown hits normal life in Kashmir, Chenab Valley for second consecutive day

Srinagar, Aug 31 (KNS): Ahead of hearing on several petitions challenging validity of Article 35-A unprecedented, shutdown called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has on second consecutive day hit normal life across Kashmir.
Shutdown has also hit normal life in Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal areas of Jammu province.
Top trading trading bodies, civil society groups, employee associations and transport associations have also announced their support to JRL’s call for shutdown.
The government has already put under house detention Syed Ali Shah Geelani the Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman and Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq the Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman to prevent them from protests against tinkering with article 35-A. JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik has gone into hiding to evade arrest.
Traffic is off the roads, educational and business establishments are closed and train services are suspended for the second consecutive day.
The universities have postponed all examinations and programs scheduled to be held today.
The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has threatened mass stir in case the Supreme Court passes on any adverse judgment against article 35-A. (KNS)
