He said that the government has failed to provide effective governance on all fronts.

 

Mir made these remarkes today while addressing a party workers’ convention at Lolab in Kupwara constituency.

 

He said, “During its election campaign, the NC had promised that it would ensure one lakh jobs soon after assuming charge of the government. It also claimed that it would regularise all daily wagers in government departments, besides making promises such as providing 200 units of free electricity and free gas cylinders to every household. It had also committed that its government would enhance the ration quota for consumers, along with several other promises.”

 

“Twenty-one months have passed since this government came into existence, but none of these promises has been fulfilled. It has now been proven that these were merely false promises made to grab people's votes,” he added.

 

He further said, “Instead of providing jobs to unemployed youth as promised, this government is now outsourcing jobs. This clearly shows that it was never serious about fulfilling its promises.”

 

Ghulam Hassan urged the government that if it is unable to provide jobs to the youth as it had promised, then it should provide unemployment allowances to unemployed youth.

 

Speaking about the ruling party’s proposed sit-in protest in Delhi for statehood demand, Ghulam Hassan Mir termed this move “just a political gimmick” to befool the people.

 

On the government's excuse that the lack of statehood is preventing it from fulfilling its promises, Ghulam Hassan Mir said, “Now they are trying to fool the people by claiming that, in the absence of statehood, they are unable to deliver effective governance and fulfil their promises. Demanding that tourist destinations in Kupwara be explored and developed, Ghulam Hassan Mir said, “This entire district is full of natural beauty, and every part of it is a tourist attraction in itself. Had our government been serious, it would have developed tourist spots here. Even if foreign tourists and visitors from across the country could not be allowed to visit, the district could at least have been developed as a tourist destination for locas.”

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, the party's Provincial President, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, urged party workers to remain closely connected with the masses in their respective areas.

 

 He said, “It is our responsibility to remain connected with the people on the ground. We must intensify our political and public outreach activities. We must ensure that people are made aware of our pro-people agenda and policies.”

 

“People must be made aware that, during the upcoming ULB and Panchayat elections, they should not once again fall prey to the false promises of the traditional parties. These elections are crucial for the empowerment of the people and the strengthening of democracy. It is our responsibility to make people aware of these facts,” he added.
