Srinagar, Feb 26 (KNS): Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid said that once again Jama Masjid Srinagar was closed while Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was put under house arrest and prayers were not allowed on the occasion of Shab-e-Baraat.
In a statement issued to KNS, Anjuman said that in these days when mosques are reverberating with prayers and religious ceremonies, the central Jama Masjid is silenced.
“It used to be resounding with supplications, and people would throng it in thousands to participate on these days,” it said.
Anjuman said it is extremely unfortunate and people are heartbroken at how the authorities are dealing with their central religious place and their religious head.
It said such violation and interference in the religious affairs is unacceptable. (KNS)
