ANC appeals LG Sinha to order immediate suspension, arrest of Sopore Police Unit till enquiry ends


Srinagar, Sept 17 (KNS): Awami National Conference (ANC) on Thursday appealed LG Manoj Sinha to order immediate suspension and arrest of the police unit Sopore involved in alleged “cold blood” murder till completion of enquiry.
According to statement issued to KNS, ANC senior vice-president Muzaffar Shah while reacting to Sopore tragedy said the Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha should order the immediate suspension and arrest of the Police unit at Sopore involved in the “cold blooded” murder of 23-year old Irfan Ahmad Dar till completion of an enquiry.
He said Government should set up commission under a sitting judge of Kashmir High Court who must ensure “time-bound” enquiry not stretching beyond one month, into the incident.
“This is the need of hour to unravel the truth behind such gruesome incidents committed by men in uniform, otherwise under oath to protect the life, dignity, honor and constitutional rights of every individual”, ANC leader said.
“The people of Kashmir are yet to recover from the “cold-blooded” murder of the Rajouri youth in Shopian that they are now mourning the tragedy befallen the family of Irfan at Sopore”, he said.
Terming the incident “highly condemnable” and “unacceptable”, ANC leader said that people of J&K want LG Sinha to act as per his duty towards the masses and ensure such tragedies are stopped forthwith.
He appealed all political parties to raise the issue in and outside Jammu and Kashmir to ensure a speedy trial in this matter in order to bring the culprits to justice, whatever high his position is?. (KNS)
