Srinagar, Jul 21 (KNS): Anantnag Police have attached properties worth ?55 crore and arrested 318 drug peddlers, including nine females, during the first 100 days of the 'Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan', officials said.

The campaign, launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has led to the registration of 298 NDPS FIRs and seizure of 330 units of contraband, while another 2,270 units have been destroyed, an official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).

Of the 318 arrested, nine are female drug peddlers and cultivators, officials said, pointing to the rising involvement of women in the narcotics trade in the south Kashmir district. Six government employees have also been booked in connection with drug-related offences, they added.

Property worth ?50 crore was attached in 25 cases, while 32 structures valued at ?5 crore were demolished. Action was also taken against 300 marlas of land, the official said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelDrug money recovered during the period stood at ?26.50 lakh.

Authorities have cancelled 17 driving licences and nine vehicle registration certificates for their misuse in drug-related offences. Nine individuals have been detained under the PIT-NDPS Act, while 143 preventive actions were initiated against drug peddlers.

Police conducted 181 cordon-and-search operations, busted two narcotic hideouts, and inspected 56 medical shops to check illegal pharmaceutical diversion. Illegal narcotic cultivation was destroyed across 143 locations.

To strengthen prosecution, 124 investigating officers were trained in NDPS investigation protocols, legal procedures, evidence collection, and trial preparation.

Anantnag Police have appealed to citizens to report drug trafficking on helpline 112, stating, "Together we can build a drug-free Anantnag." (KNS)
