Srinagar, Feb 12(KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir government announced the promotion of two IPS officers, Anand Jain and Nitish Kumar, to the rank of ADGP while they continue in their roles as IGPs.

Nitish Kumar, another senior IPS officer, has been assigned the role of IGP CID. The order specifies that both officers will retain their current positions, which are now considered equivalent in rank and status to that of ADGP.

"In the interest of administration, it is hereby ordered that the
IPS officers including Anand Jain, IPS (AGMUT: 1999), IGP Jammu Zone and Nitish Kumar, IPS (AGMUT: 1999), IGP CID, J&K, upon their promotion to the grade of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), shall continue in the present position, with the post declared equivalent in the rank and status to that of ADGP, till held by them," the order reads a copy of which lies with the Kashmir News Service (KNS).
