Srinagar, July 13 (KNS) : Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) on Monday alleged that its senior leadership was prevented from visiting the Martyrs' Graveyard to pay homage to the martyrs of 13 July.
According to the party, AIP leaders, including MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed, Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi, and several other party functionaries, were stopped by police at Bishember Nagar while proceeding towards the Martyrs' Graveyard in Srinagar to offer tributes.
The party further claimed that several senior leaders were placed under house arrest to prevent them from participating in the commemorative visit.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Er. Rashid, who is lodged in Tihar Jail, is observing a hunger strike to honour the martyrs of 13 July. According to the party, the MP has dedicated the day to remembering the sacrifices of the martyrs and is also protesting what he described as the continued disregard for their legacy by both the Union Government and the local administration.
