Ensure that Developmental Works are not Affected: Advisor directs Officers

 

Baramulla, June 03: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Ahmad Khan today conducts an extensive tour to district Baramulla where he took stock of COVID-19 mitigation means and measures.

 

The Advisor, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar, among other senior officers inspected the COVID Care Centre established in SDH Sopore where he took first hand appraisal of various related aspects.

 

The Advisor also interacted with the patients who appraised him about various medicare services and facilities that are being provided to them. They expressed satisfaction over the available facilities during which the Advisor directed to ensure that every basic necessity is provided to the patients in a hassle free manner. He also directed to follow SOPs and other related advisories in letter and spirit adding that there is a need to adopt COVID appropriate behavior for the total elimination of the pandemic.

 

After inspection of the centre, the Advisor visited Chijhama Rafiabad where he met PRIs headed by the DDC chairperson Baramulla Safeena Beigh and other stakeholders of the society.

 

On the occasion, the DDC Chairperson highlighted various issues pertaining to the combat of COVID-19 pandemic. She demanded installation of oxygen plants in Rafiabad area for effectively talking the disease. She also demanded the posting of Chief Accounts Officer in GMC Baramulla so that the funds, meant to tackle the pandemic, are utilized in a smooth and effective manner. The Chairperson also highlighted several other issues which includes rationalization of staff in health institutions among other grievances of vital public significance.

 

Other stakeholders comprising of civil society members and other prominent sections of the society also highlighted their issues and demands during the meeting.

 

The Advisor gave a patient hearing and assured to redress the genuine grievances in a time bond manner. He hailed the cooperation of various stakeholders which made it possible to relax the restrictions. The Advisor also sought their active cooperation adding that participation of every stakeholder is vital for the total elimination of the virus. He also emphasized upon them to motivate people for adopting appropriate COVID behavior for averting further exigencies.

 

Meanwhile, the DC briefed the advisor about the current status and position of COVID-19 in district Baramulla and gave a brief sketch of positivity and recovery rates. He informed that district Baramulla is leading in vaccination coverage in the entire J&K and several initiatives are being taken to cover all the beneficiaries. The DC also informed that 03 oxygen plants have been approved for Tangmarg, Uri and Kreeri which shall be installed shortly.

 

Later, the Advisor chaired a separate meeting of various officers in order to take review of the pace and position of developmental works/projects undertaken in the district.

 

A detailed discussion on various aspects was held wherein the advisor directed to ensure that work on any ongoing project is not affected due to the current crisis. He stressed to mobilize all the available resources for achieving the desired results in a time bound manner besides emphasizing for strict adherence of SOPs and guidelines at the working/project sites. He also directed to take all the PRIs on board while formulating district development plan.
