Srinagar, Sep 03 (KNS): A youth was on Monday killed while scores sustained injuries after clashes broke out between youth and forces in Gusoo village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Police officials said that a massive cordon and search operations was jointly launched by forces and police in over a dozen of villages in the district during which the youth hit the streets and started throwing stones on the forces.
According to the KNS correspondent, Aijaz Rasheed, they informed that the youth hurled stones on the forces’ vehicles during the search operations in Gusoo village, following which they used tear gas canisters and pellets.
Police officials said that a youth identified as Fayaz Ahmad Wani, son of Muhammad Ahsan Wani of Chewa-Kalan sustained bullet injuries during the clashes who was immediately rushed to District Hospital Pulwama wherefrom he was shifted to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital for specialized treatment.
The youth however was declared dead on arrival at SMHS with reports quoting the SMHS Medical Superintendent, Dr Saleem Tak as saying that the youth who had suffered a bullet injury in head was declared dead on arrival.
According to the KNS correspondent, Aijaz Rasheed, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pulwama, Chandan Kohli while confirming the killing of a youth said that an FIR has been lodged into the killing .
He said that the investigation has been taken up over the killing.
Meanwhile, scores of persons also sustained injuries during the clashes in the village who as per the local sources were either treated locally or taken to the hospital. (KNS)
