Youth Take Centre Stage as ‘My Youth My Pride’ Engages Thousands Across J&K

Srinagar,29 July (KNS) : The J&K Sports Council’s flagship initiative “My Youth My Pride” continues to ignite the sporting spirit across the region, penetrating both urban and remote areas with inclusive, high-energy competitions. Recent events held in Samba, Ramban, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Shopian, and Jammu districts saw participation from hundreds of enthusiastic young athletes.

In District Samba, volleyball and Wushu events were conducted at local sports venues, drawing over 160 athletes across multiple days. In Rajouri, a wrestling competition brought together around 80 participants, celebrating the values of strength and sportsmanship.

Taekwondo took center stage in Banihal (Ramban), where more than 70 boys and girls demonstrated their skills in a spirited contest. In Kishtwar, youth athletes actively competed in kabaddi, further solidifying the campaign’s grassroots reach. Jammu’s R.S. A key highlight was the multi-sport event in Shopian, where volleyball, Wushu, and Taekwondo competitions engaged around 300 participants on the inaugural day alone. In Tral, over 185 school athletes showcased their talent in the indigenous martial art of Thang-Ta, underlining the initiative’s commitment to promoting traditional sports.

Speaking on the ongoing success of the programme,Satish Sharma, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, J&K said, “Youth participation is at the heart of our mission. Through ‘My Youth My Pride’, we are committed to providing every aspiring athlete whether from an urban center or a remote village with equal access to opportunities, infrastructure, and competitive platforms.”
As “My Youth My Pride” continues to gain momentum, it is not only nurturing athletic excellence but also shaping a more confident, healthy, and empowered youth across Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS)
