Year on, Tangdar, Teetwal residents yet to avail benefits of Tribal Sub Plan scheme

Tangdar, Dec 15 (KNS): The resident of Tangdar and Teetwal in border district Kupwara complained that they have not availed benefit of Tribal Sub Plan (TSP), a central sponsored scheme yet, despite passing of one year.
The residents told KNS that they had availed loans from banks and many people sold their land to avail the benefits of the scheme. “We were asked to deposit Rs 38000 to get a sheep unit. But despite passing of one year, we have not availed live stock nor any subsidy under the scheme,” they said.
The aggrieved residents said they were earlier told that they will get the sheep unit in which they will be given 10 sheep. “But despite completion of all the formalities we have not receive the benefit,” they complained. “Being backward persons the government is not paying any heed to our pleas.”
When contacted, District Chief Sheep Husbandry Officer admitted that there was delay in providing the live stock to the beneficiaries due to the prevailing situation in Kashmir. “We have taken up the matter with District Commissioner Kupwara and in coming months, the problem will be solve and the beneficiaries will get the benefit of the scheme,” he told KNS.
