New Dehli June 02 (KNS): Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting on the world’s largest cooperative food grain storage scheme in New Delhi. Minister of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal Gurjar, Murlidhar Mohol, and officials from the Ministry of Cooperation, Food and Public Distribution, FCI, NABARD, NCDC, and other organizations attended the session.
Addressing the meeting, Shah said the scheme is a major step toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation). He emphasized the dual goals of boosting India’s GDP and creating rural jobs. “This scheme will increase the income of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and provide employment opportunities in rural areas,” Shah said.
He called for urgent action to improve PACS’ financial health, including extending loan periods under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF).Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelShah stressed that PACS must play a central role in the scheme, ensuring both financial sustainability and social impact.
Shah directed the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution and FCI to conduct a national mapping of warehouses to streamline implementation based on regional needs. He also instructed FCI, NCCF, NAFED, and state warehousing bodies to link more PACS with existing warehouses.
It was decided that states should actively involve PACS in the scheme and link State Level Marketing Federations to build a strong cooperative supply chain.
Shah urged all organizations to coordinate and ensure timely, effective execution of the scheme, which he described as a key milestone for achieving the goals of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and “Sahkar Se Samriddhi.”(KNS)
