Srinagar, Aug 28 (KNS): Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister, on Thursday said the recent floods have highlighted the urgent need for a renewed mitigation plan to ensure people do not face such disasters again.
According to KNS, Wani said that in some areas where water used to be absorbed naturally, floods are now seen. "This whole matter will be reviewed again. Once we come out of the present situation, we will prepare a proper mitigation plan so that such crises do not repeat.”
He added that the Chief Minister is personally monitoring the situation and has raised the issue with the Prime Minister and Home Minister. “The Chief Minister has already spoken at the highest levels, and follow-ups are being done. Relief and rehabilitation are our immediate priorities,” he said.
Wani also criticised the opposition, accusing them of indulging in “cheap politics.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel” “Stop opposing just for the sake of opposing. Be a constructive opposition. People have rejected their negative politics, and they know their role whether in power or in opposition,” he said.
On the issue of prisoners, Wani said some leaders were only using it for political mileage. “If the opposition was serious, they should have raised their voice when they were in alliance with the BJP. At the very least, they should have demanded that prisoners be shifted to J&K jails to be closer to their families,” he said.
He reiterated that the decision ultimately lies with the Government of India, but stressed that those who have served long years in jail deserve consideration.(KNS)
