Says, even Sheikh Abdullah was dethroned "illegaly"

Srinagar, Aug 30 (KNS): National Conference President and Member Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah Thursday said that his party has employed the best team of lawyers to defend Article 35-A in Supreme Court.
The Apex court is scheduled to hear the multiple petitions challenging Special State Subject Law of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to KNS, Dr Abdullah said that vested interests in New Delhi have been attempting to erode the special status of the frontier State from last so many decades. He said his father and Former Chief Minister Late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was illegaly dethroned and arrested in 1953 and later kept in jail for 22 years. He said whatever was left was damaged in PDP rule. Dr Abdullah however said that any tinkering with 35-A is unacceptable and would be defended at any cost. (KNS)
