Kavinder says 'won't attend Govt meetings in future'

Jammu, Jan 09 (KNS): Cornering the Speaker over his attendance at the PDP-BJP meeting called by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti last week at his residence, the main opposition National Conference and Congress disrupted the house proceedings and wanted to know from the Speaker the reasons behind his participation in a meeting connected with the politics but not the routine working of the government.
KNS correspondent Waseem Ramzan covering the Assembly proceedings reported that Opposition National Conference MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar had alleged that for the first time a Speaker has attended a meeting called by the Chief Minister with a political agenda on the table and the participation of the Speaker is highly questionable.
Congress legislature Party leader Nawang Rigzin Jora claimed to have evidence of the Speaker's participation in the PDP-BJP meeting called by Chief Minister and alleged that Speaker has tended to be a man of the ruling coalition and not the custodian of the House.
After noisy scenes, the Speaker Assembly told the opposition that he had gone to Chief Ministers residence not to attend the meeting called by her but to participate in the dinner hosted by the Chief Minister at her residence. Speaker assured the opposition that he won't be going to Chief Ministers office or residence in future. (KNS)
