Srinagar, Sep 21 (KNS): The Union Home Ministry on Friday denied any resignation by the Special Police Officer (SPO) in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that reports about their resignation are based on “false propaganda by mischievous elements”.
The HMO India in a series of tweets said that the Jammu and Kashmir police have confirmed such reports as ‘untrue and motivated’.
“Certain reports have appeared in a section of the media that some SPOs have resigned in Jammu and Kashmir. The J&K Police @JmuKmrPolice have confirmed that these reports are untrue and motivated. These reports are based on false propaganda by mischievous elements,” HMO India tweeted.
Parsing the Jammu and Kashmir police, the union home ministry said that the the police forces in the state is fully geared up to meet the security challenges, including those related to panchayat and urban bodies elections.
“Jammu and Kashmir has a professional and committed police force which is fully geared up to meet the security challenges, including those related to panchayat and urban bodies elections,” HMO India wrote on twitter.
Stating that over 30000 SPOs and their services are being reviewed from time to time, the union home ministry added that some mischievous elements are trying to project that the SPOs whose services were not renewed due to administrative reasons, have resigned.

The union home ministry further said that 28 militants were killed in South Kashmir’s Shopian district so far, adding that the militants have been pushed to corner due to pro-active actions of Jammu and Kashmir police.
“Due to pro-active actions of @JmuKmrPolice militants have been pushed to corner and are being driven to desperation. 28 terrorists have been neutralised this year in Shopian alone,” HMO India tweeted. (KNS)
