Srinagar, Jan 25 (KNS): Two passengers including a woman died while 36 others sustained injuries on Thursday after a passenger bus skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Doda district, police said.
Officials informed KNS that a mini bus bearing registration number JK06-6959 was on way to Doda from Halaran during which the driver lost his control over the vehicle and it skidded off the road near Kara Gandoh and plunged into a deep gorge.
Officials said that two person including a middle aged woman died in the accident while 36 others travelling in the passenger vehicle sustained injuries in the road mishap.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police through its official twitter handle informed that nine injured persons out of 36 were airlifted to Jammu.
They informed that the district police is on job while the rescue operation is in progress.
“DODA..02 persons died and about 26 others were injured today when a mini bus No. JK06-6959 on way from Halaran to Kara Gandoh plunged into a deep gorge near KaraGandoh. Police on job and rescue operation in progress,” JKP tweeted.
Following the rescue of injured persons, the JKP tweeted, “36 injured.9 airlifted to Jammu.” (KNS)
