Tral’s Mahchhamah Link Road Crumbles, Residents Demand Action

Tral, Oct 3 (KNS) : The link road connecting Mahchhamah village to Naghbal in Tral has fallen into ruins, leaving commuters and residents in severe distress. The dilapidated condition of the road has become so grave that even walking along certain stretches has turned into an ordeal.

Residents from Naghbal, Bran Pathri, Zun Paran, Peer Mohalla, Panadi and adjoining areas said the road has become almost unusable, forcing drivers to suffer repeated damages to their vehicles and financial losses. Despite repeated appeals to the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department, they alleged no steps have been taken beyond verbal assurances.

Locals said the department had promised to macadamise the entire stretch during summer, but with the season nearly over, only around one kilometer of the 2.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel5-kilometer road was repaired, leaving the remaining stretch in its crumbling state. “The condition of this road is so bad that driving or even walking has become extremely difficult,” said one local driver.

When contacted, Executive Engineer R&B Awantipora Farooq Ahmad said he would comment after reviewing the relevant documents . Meanwhile, Tral MLA Rafiq Ahmad Naik assured that funds for the road’s repair have already been released. “I am hopeful that once technical approval is granted, work will begin soon,” he said.(KNS)
