Traffic Police Issues Travel Advisory for July 4 on Jammu-Srinagar NHW and Other Key Routes

Srinagar, July 3, (KNS): The Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, has issued an updated travel advisory for July 4, 2025, to ensure smooth vehicular movement on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and other major routes across the Union Territory. The advisory is subject to fair weather and road conditions.

NH-44 Update:
Slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to the breakdown of two heavy vehicles and single-lane stretches at Nashri-Dalwas and Marog-Kishtwari Pather.

Key Guidelines for Commuters:
ID Mandatory: Residents of Reasi, Katra, Udhampur, Patnitop, Doda, and Ramban must carry photo ID after cut-off timings from Jammu/Udhampur.
Daytime Travel Advised: LMVs and passenger vehicles are urged to travel during the day due to shooting stone risks between Ramban and Banihal.
Perishable Goods & Livestock: Goods carriers must follow loading guidelines and reach designated points before 9:00 AM to ensure smooth movement.
No Overloading: HMV owners are advised to avoid overloading and ensure vehicles are roadworthy with enough fuel before travel.
Dhar Road Access: Only HMVs with 6 and 10 tyres are permitted via Dhar Road.
Avoid Stoppage: Commuters must avoid unnecessary halts near landslide-prone zones.

Traffic Plan for July 4:
NH-44: Passenger vehicles and Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) convoys will be allowed from both directions. HMVs will move on alternate days, based on clearance from Traffic Control Units (TCUs).

Cut-Off Timings:

Nagrota (Jammu) to Srinagar: 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Jakheni (Udhampur) to Srinagar: 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Qazigund to Jammu: 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM

HMVs/Load Carriers:
HMVs may move from Jakheni to Srinagar only after 7:00 PM, pending TCU approval.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelNo HMV will be allowed after 7:00 PM. As per the Divisional Commissioner’s order, tankers, FCI trucks, and vehicles with up to 10 tyres returning to Jammu must use the Mughal Road.

Other Routes:
Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Road (NH-244): LMVs and HPSVs will be allowed from both sides during scheduled hours. No HMVs other than designated HPSVs are permitted.
SSG Road (Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari): LMVs and HMVs will move in regulated timings. From Minamarg to Srinagar: 5:00 AM–10:00 AM, and from Sonamarg to Kargil: 11:30 AM–5:30 PM.
Mughal Road: LMVs can travel in both directions. HMVs (up to 10 tyres) can move from Shopian to Poonch between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
