To Shape India's Future, We Must First Shape Minds : LG Sinha

 Jammu, Jan 11 (KNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday emphasized that the future of the nation is forged on university campuses, stating that education must be reimagined for a brighter tomorrow. He called for curricula designed to inspire innovation and cutting-edge research.

 
"By shaping minds, we can shape a brighter future for India," LG Sinha said.
 
According to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), the Lieutenant Governor chaired the 9th Executive Council meeting of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) in Rajouri at Lok Bhavan. He directed the university to conduct a comprehensive review of its existing curriculum, envisioning a strategic transformation to position BGSBU as a centre of excellence.
 
He instructed the Executive Council to focus on educating for tomorrow and to create next-generation learning spaces within the university.
 
LG Sinha also called for a renewed commitment to skill-centric education and institutional accountability. He directed the university to concentrate on curriculum development, including attractive courses in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and other emerging digital technologies aligned with evolving industry needs and student career aspirations.
 
He emphasized that the university must identify and provide innovative solutions to localized problems in tribal areas and ensure enhanced opportunities for tribal students.
 
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the need to increase student enrolment and modernize operations through the complete implementation of an e-office system.
 
He issued directives for holding the convocation and conducting the University’s Executive Council meetings every six months.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe also instructed the university to facilitate active student engagement in flagship awareness programs of the Government of India and the UT administration.
 
The meeting discussed important matters pertaining to admissions, recruitment, the introduction of new academic programmes, faculty career advancement, infrastructure development—including all nursing colleges—and other reforms to bring further qualitative improvement to the university's overall functioning.
 
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor laid the e-foundation stone for various infrastructure projects at BGSBU. These include a Girls' Hostel for Nursing students (G+1), a new main gate, an Indoor Games Complex under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA), and a 1 MW Rooftop Solar Power Plant.
 
The meeting was attended by Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, Vice Chancellor of BGSBU; Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of Jammu University; Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kashmir; Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor; Shri Ram Niwas Sharma, Secretary of the Higher Education Department; Shri Abhishek Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri and Registrar of BGSBU; Prof. Bechan Lal, former Vice-Chancellor of the Cluster University of Jammu; Prof. O.P. Mishra, Dean (Research) & Professor of Pediatrics at Heritage Institute of Medical Sciences, Varanasi; Prof. Aquil Ahmed of the Department of Statistics & Operations Research at Aligarh Muslim University; Dr. Titi Xavier, Dean of the School of Nursing and Biomedical Sciences at BGSBU; and other members of the Executive Council.
