Three months on, PDD fails to repair damaged transformer in Handwara

Srinagar, Jun 12 (KNS): Nearly three months elapsed since the transformer in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district got damaged, the authorities in Power Development Department (PDD) have utterly failed to repair the damaged transformer, thus causing hardships to the local residents.

The department made several assurances with the locals but failed to fulfill their promises, locals told Kashmir News Service (KNS), adding that they are facing immense hardships in absence of adequate electricity.

Earlier, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara had also written to the Executive Engineer PDD division Handwara, asking him to ensure adequate electricity is supplied to the villages.

However, the locals continue to suffer as the department failed to repair the damaged transformer.

The locals said that they are being forced to reel under darkness in absence of transformer, saying that they are getting electricity from another connection but only for some hours, which has affected the education of their wards as well.

They appealed the district administration as well as the officials in PDD department to look into the matter at an earliest. (KNS)
