Srinagar, Sep 18 (KNS): Security forces on Friday apprehended three persons, including a woman, and recovered a large quantity of gold coins from a vehicle in Kulgam district, officials said.

According to officials, a joint team of the Special Police (SP) National Highway Wing and Army’s 9 Rashtriya Rifles intercepted a Jazz VX vehicle bearing display registration number MP09CS-0541, which was travelling from Qazigund towards Srinagar.

The vehicle was subsequently seized and taken to Police Post Mirbazar for further investigation.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 500 to 600 gold coins were recovered from the vehicle, officials said.

Further details regarding the identity of the apprehended persons, the exact quantity and nature of the recovered gold coins, and the circumstances surrounding their possession are awaited.

Police have initiated further investigation into the matter.(KNS)
