Three JeM militants, civilian, Army man killed in Pulwama gunfight

Srinagar, May 16 (KNS): Three Jaish-e-Muhammad militants, one civilian and an Army man were Thursday killed in an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Dalipora area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district.

Police said that after credible inputs about the presence of militants, a cordon and search operation was launched in the village.

They said that the hiding militants fired upon the search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter in which three JeM militants, civilian Rayees Dar and an Army man were killed.

Police identified three JeM militants as Naseer Pandit of Kareemabad Pulwama, Umar Mir of Shopian and a foreigner Khalid.

They said arms and ammunition was recovered from the gunfight site.

Police also appealed the people not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. (KNS)
