Kupwara, Feb 03 (KNS): Three soldiers were killed while another sustained injuries after an Army post was hit by an avalanche in Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara, Shamsheer Hussain told KNS that an Army post of 21 Rajput was hit by an avalanche today at around 4:30 pm at Sona Pandi Gali (SPG) in Machil along the Line of Control.
He said due to avalanche, four soldiers went missing.
A search operation was launched immediately during which the four missing soldiers trapped under snow and were evacuated.
However, one died on the spot while two others succumbed while referring to 92 base hospital Badamibagh, Srinagar and fourth one namely Sepoy Bipin is said to be stable and has been hospitalized, he said.
The officer identified the deceased as Havaldar Kamlesh Kumar, Niak Balbeer and Sepor Rajinder. (KNS)
