Tehreek-i-Istiqlaal commemorates Guru's hanging anniversary

Srinagar, Feb 09 (KNS): A condolence meet was held by Chairman, Tehreek-i-Istiqlaal, Gh Nabi Waseem, at Sagipora, Sopore to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Mohammad Afzal Guru. On this day in 2013, a great son of the soil and freedom loving leader was sent to gallows in Tihar jail, Delhi, to satisfy the collective conscience of Indian state.
While speaking on this occasion, Gh Nabi Waseem reiterated its stand to fight the genuine cause till its logical end. He further added that “judicial murder of Guru led to an uprising that is still haunting Indian interests in Kashmir and will keep doing it till destiny is achieved.”
While speaking on this occasion, high tributes were paid to Mohammad Maqbool Bhat who was hanged Indian state on 11th of Feb, 1984 at Tihar jail, Delhi. Chairman added that, “martyrdom of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and the subsequent tragedies exposed India in Kashmir to the core.” India was never same with people of Jammu and Kashmir after this tragedy happened. He further added that, “martyrdom of Maqbool Bhat was beginning of an end of tyranny and added a new chapter into the Kashmir resistance movement.
Tehrek-i-Istiqlaal demands that mortal remains of both of these martyrs which still lie with Indian state must be given back to Kashmiri people so that a dignified religious funeral is given to them. “A day will come when India will not only seek forgiveness for its wrongdoings in Kashmir but will repent whatever it did for its political gains in Kashmir,” Gh Nabi Waseem added.
