Srinagar, Jul 15 (KNS): CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today expressed grief over the demise of renowned medico Professor Girija Dhar.
In a statement issued to KNS, he said Prof Dhar, a former Principal of the Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar had contribute greatly in the development of the GMC alongwith her husband Dr Naseer Ahmad.
Prof Dhar, who also served as Chairperson of the J&K Public Service Commission, promoted teaching and raised the level of medical education during her tenure as Principal.
Dr Naseer and Dr Dhar had remained very active in carrying through various programmes for providing care, protection, education, and skills to young girls who belonged to the neglected segments of the society.
Paying rich tributes to the legend, he said the demise has left a great void in the field of medicine which can’t be filled. (KNS)
