Handwara, Oct 11 (KNS) : The Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Handwara, in collaboration with the Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum HQ-DELHI JK UT, today organized an awareness programme at AIIMS School, Handwara, to commemorate International Girl Child Day.
The event aimed to highlight the importance of educating and empowering the girl child, ensuring gender equality, and spreading awareness about the legal rights and protections available to girls and women under the law.
The programme featured insightful talks by resource persons from TLSC Handwara. Advocate Tawseef Raja (LADC) delivered a session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, emphasizing mechanisms for reporting and preventing sexual offences against minors. Advocate Nadeem Khaliq gave a detailed talk on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, stressing the legal consequences of child marriage and the importance of timely intervention by authorities and communities.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The speakers collectively underlined the role of education, awareness, and law enforcement in protecting the rights of the girl child.
Students of AIIMS School participated enthusiastically through speeches and other presentations. The school management appreciated the efforts of TLSC Handwara for organizing such awareness programmes that inspire young minds and foster a culture of respect and equality.
