Srinagar, May 12 (KNS): The shocking incident of rape of three-year old girl child has evoked condemnation across the Valley, with the authorities saying that the perpetrator of the crime will be brought to justice and appealed people to main peace.

Protests were held at several places in Kashmir and social media was agog with outrage against the culprit.

Cutting across ideological lines, people demanded exemplary capital punishment to the culprit.

“The heinous crime of rape of a minor in Shadipora Bandipora is under investigation with full vigor and we assure that perpetrator of the crime will be brought to justice,” Shahbaz Mirza, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora told Kashmir News Service (KNS).

Mirza appealed to the public to stay calm and not heed to any rumors.

Political parties cutting across ideological spectrum, civil society and common masses seeking speedy trial and exemplary punishment to the culprit on fast track basis.

Protests were held in Press Enclave on Saturday, in Magam and in Bandipora against the gruesome crime. A civil society group held protest against the accused in Press Enclave today evening and demanded capital punishment of the culprit.

A three year old girl child was allegedly raped by a youth, identified by police as Tahir Ahmad Mir.

Police officials said that FIR has been registered against the accused and the accused has been arrested. (KNS)
