Sopore, July 21(KNS): A severe staff shortage at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Tarzoo, Sopore, is pushing residents to rely on costly private clinics for basic medical tests and treatment.
Locals say the centre has X-ray and ultrasound machines but no technicians to operate them. “The machines are there, but no one to run them. Patients suffer and are forced to pay at private labs,” said Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, a local social activist.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The facility also lacks an ambulance, leaving emergency patients stranded and adding pressure on the few staff present.
Dr. Zulfiqar Nabi, Block Medical Officer Sopore, said the matter has been taken up with higher authorities. “We are aware of the vacancies and hope the issue will be resolved soon,” he said.
Residents, however, remain anxious, urging the government to act quickly before more lives are endangered.(KNS)
