Srinagar Police foil terror plot, three arrested with arms


Srinagar, Nov 6(KNS): Srinagar Police on Thursday said it foiled a terror attempt by arresting three individuals and recovering arms and ammunition from their possession, thereby averting a possible attack in the city.

According to the police, a team from Police Station Khanyar intercepted a black Royal Enfield motorcycle without a registration number during routine checking near Mamta Chowk, Konakhan, Dalgate. When signalled to stop, the rider and two pillion passengers allegedly tried to flee but were apprehended by alert personnel.

The arrested individuals were identified as Shah Mutayib, son of Manzoor Ahmad Shah, resident of Koolipora Khanyar; Kamran Hassan Shah, son of Ghulam Hassan Shah, resident of Koolipora Khanyar; and Mohammad Nadeem, son of Mohammad Yaseen Salmani, a resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, presently residing at Kawa Mohalla, Khanyar.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Police said a search of their possession led to the recovery of one country-made pistol and nine live rounds. Preliminary investigation suggested that the accused were planning to carry out a terror-related act in the locality using the recovered weapon.

An FIR (No. 51/2025) has been registered at Police Station Khanyar under Sections 3, 7, and 25 of the Arms Act, Sections 20 and 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Police said further investigation is underway to trace their associates, network, and possible links with other subversive elements.
