Srinagar Police Crack Down on Drug Peddlers, Seize Large Quantities of Narcotics

Srinagar, October 15 (KNS)In significant escalation of its anti-drug efforts, Srinagar Police has seized large quantities of banned narcotic substances and arrested multiple individuals in connection with drug trafficking. 

The seizures were made in a series of coordinated operations across the city, resulting in the registration of multiple FIRs.

The major recoveries in drug-related crimes include : 

1. Police Station Shalteng recovered 36.770 kg of ganja from a residence in Dilawar Colony, Mujgund. The accused persons namely Jehangir Ahmad Dar and Mohd Rafiq Dar, sons of Late Abdul Rehman Dar, have been arrested in case FIR No. 75/2025 under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances ( NDPS ) Act. 

2. In a separate case under the same FIR No. 75/2025 of NDPS Act, Police recovered an additional 11.500 kg of ganja from the attic of a cowshed at the residence of Mohd Altaf Dar, son of Gh. Ahmad Dar, resident of Dilawar Colony. The drug peddler was arrested on the spot.

3. Police Station Panthachowk seized of a substantial quantity of Clonazepam - banned psychotropic drug- from Maqsood Ahmad Mir of Balhama.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe accused person stands arrested in case FIR No. 78/2025 under NDPS Act.

4. Police Station Nowgam   recovered 16 kg of charas concealed in three rice bags from Khazir Mohammad Sheikh of Ganie Mohalla, Wagoora. In this connection, FIR No.  155/2025 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered and the drug peddler has been arrested.

5. Similarly, in case FIR No. 156/2025, Mehraj-ud,din Ganie, resident if of Ganie Mohalla, Wagoora, was apprehended with 15 kg of charas powder stored in a blue plastic drum. The drug peddler has been arrested in the instant case. 

All six individuals have been arrested and further investigation is ongoing to uncover forward and backward linkages.

Srinagar Police reaffirms  its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and called upon the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities.
