Srinagar, Sep 19 (KNS): Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari has called for effective implementation, better coordination and greater accountability in the development of Srinagar, saying the city’s problems cannot be addressed through plans and promises alone.

In a post on X, Bukhari said Srinagar was not suffering from a lack of development plans or ambitious visions, but from “weak implementation, poor coordination, and a lack of accountability.”

He said that despite development plans extending up to 2035, people continued to face basic urban problems, including waterlogging, traffic congestion, inadequate pedestrian facilities and poor waste management.

He stressed that the focus should be on translating development plans into visible improvements on the ground and ensuring that agencies responsible for urban development work in coordination.

Bukhari said Srinagar deserved development that people could “see, feel, and experience” in their daily lives, rather than development that remained confined to official plans and documents.

He called for greater accountability in the implementation of urban projects, saying the city’s residents need tangible improvements in basic civic infrastructure and services.(KNS)
