Special Anti-Corruption Court Grants Bail to Three Accused in Ganiepora Case

Srinagar, Sept 4(KNS): The Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Kashmir, on Thursday granted bail to three accused persons in connection with an FIR registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Srinagar.

The case, registered under FIR No. 12/2024 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 161(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), names the accused as Sajjad Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rashid of Pakherpora; Mohammad Irfan Ganie, son of Mohammad Sultan Ganie of Kanipora; and Abid Hussain Wani, son of Abdul Rashid Wani of Pakherpora.

The court, presided over by Judge Surinder Singh, ordered their release on bail subject to furnishing personal and surety bonds of ?50,000 each. In its order, the court imposed several conditions, including that the accused shall not directly or indirectly induce, threaten, or influence any person acquainted with the case, and must not leave Kashmir without prior permission of the IO or the court.

“The surety bonds in the sum of ?50,000 each have been submitted on behalf of the accused and the same have been accepted,” the order stated, adding that the accused shall be released from custody after completing the required formalities.
The judge also made it clear that if the accused violated any of the conditions, the prosecution would be at liberty to approach the court for cancellation of bail.

The case is being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Kashmir.(KNS).
