Speaker Rather interacts with media ahead of Assembly session, assures hassle-free coverage

Srinagar, Sep 16 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Wednesday interacted with media representatives ahead of the Assembly session and sought their suggestions on facilitating smooth coverage of the proceedings.

Rather said the purpose of the interaction was to understand whether journalists were facing any difficulties in discharging their professional responsibilities during the session.

“My purpose was to see if the people of the media were facing any difficulties in fulfilling their responsibilities. My purpose was to hear their opinions,” Rather said in an exclusive interview with wire agency KNS.

He said he listened to the suggestions made by media representatives and would try to address them.

Rather said he had already directed officials to ensure that journalists covering the proceedings did not face any difficulties.

“I clearly told them that we are inviting our friends from the media to report our proceedings. They should not face any difficulties in reporting,” he said.

He said the suggestions received during the interaction would be conveyed to the administration.

“Whatever new suggestions I received today, I will convey them to the administration,” Rather said.

The Speaker assured media representatives that necessary steps would be taken to facilitate their work during the session.

“I want to assure you, through you, all my friends from the media that we will fulfil our responsibilities,” he said. (KNS)
