Srinagar, Jun 18 (KNS): Senior Congress leader and former union minister, Saif-ud-din Soz on Monday attended a congregation at Kreri that had been organised by the family to commemorate Syed Shujaat Bukhari on the 4th day of his killing.
Rich tributes were paid to Dr Shujaat Bukhari by various speakers.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Soz as per the statement issued to KNS explained that Dr Shujaat Bukhari tried to promote a strong debate on the miseries that the people of Kashmir suffered primarily for the fact that there was hostility between India and Pakistan.
“Therefore, he was a strong votary of cordiality between India and Pakistan. Prof Soz told the gathering that since the neighbourhood cannot be changed, India and Pakistan have to be friends,” Soz said.
Prof Soz said further that against this background it was necessary for people to understand that both India and Pakistan happen to be Nuclear powers and therefore war can never be an option.
“Peace and cordiality between India and Pakistan has to be a mission in life for every citizen of the sub-continent,” he said. (KNS)
