Six houses damaged in cross LoC shelling in Teetwal

Srinagar, Dec 27 (KNS): At least six residential houses were fully damaged while 20 others were partially damaged in the exchange of shelling and firing between the armies of India and Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Teetwal sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday evening.
Reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS) said a masjid also damaged in the shelling. However, there was no report of any causality in the incident.
“Atleast eight villages along the LoC came under heavy shelling from Pakistani side at around 5:35 pm on Thursday which continued till 7 pm. Indian army gave a befitting reply to the Pakistani aggression,” a defence spokesperson told KNS.
The areas which came under shelling included Dhani, Amwori, Saidpora, Chamkot, Panjtara, Chaterkadi and Amroi. According to KNS correspondent a masjid suffered damages in Dhani area due to the shelling.
In the past 60-hours three army men have been killed while several others have been injured along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
On December 18, Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat had said that situation along the LoC can escalate any time and the country has to be prepared for escalatory matrix. The statement had come amidst complaints by Pakistan army that the Indian troops have moved ahead of fencing at some places on the LoC.
However, there was no official confirmation of the Indian Army going ahead of fencing. (KNS)
