Sehrai anguished over death of cancer patient due to highway ban

Srinagar, Apr 17 (KNS): Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai expressed anguish over the death of a cancer patient namely Abdul Qayoom Banday of Doda due to ban on highway.

Sehrai in a statement issued to KNS also strongly condemned the thrashing of a magistrate along with his employees by the Army on the highway.

“The ban on the civilian movement on the highway is highly condemnable and speaks the volumes of lawlessness which is prevailing in Kashmir,” he said.

He said even legal authorities were not spared by the govt forces, saying “it is literally lawlessness like situation going on in Kashmir where critical patients and ambulances not allowed to move freely and the situation has gone to the extend where sub-divisional magistrate being roughed up by army personnel apart from civilian innocent thrashings which is a daily affair.”

Sehrai added that such behavior has become a norm as the same has been committed with full impunity. (KNS)
