Srinagar, May 23 (KNS): Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik has strongly condemned the prolonged incarceration of Moulana Sarjan Barkati who is languishing in jail from 2016. Moulana Barkati has been charged under many ridiculous charges and dozens of fabricated cases have been lodged against him and courts have acquitted him of all the charges. In 2016, he was booked under PSA and sent to Kot-balwal Jammu jail. After high court quashed his PSA, police instead of releasing him booked him under various fabricated cases and till date he is being kept in incarceration under these frivolous charges.
JKLF chairman said that a person who is the only bread earner of a big family has been kept in jails from last two years and his family is suffering because of this apathy. Recently on court orders he was released from central jail Srinagar but was re-arrested from jail premises by CIK and from last three days his whereabouts are unknown. Three days back he was released by Shupian court but soon after his release, he was again arrested JKLF chairman appealed ICRC to look into this matter and ensure Moulana Sarjan Barkati’s release.
