Srinagar, Aug 24(KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference President Sajad Lone has raised concerns about the government’s takeover of FAT schools, urging authorities to act quickly to preserve their unique model and academic success.
He warned that without timely management reforms, the schools’ future and thousands of students’ careers could be at risk.
Lone highlighted that FAT schools have produced numerous professionals—including doctors, engineers, and lawyers—who are contributing in Kashmir and beyond. He described these schools as institutions that combined the affordability of government schools with the academic standards typically seen in private schools, all while operating outside the government system.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He appealed to the government not to convert FAT schools into regular government-run institutions, emphasizing that their strength lies in non-governmental management.
Referring to the Education Minister’s statement that the current arrangement is temporary, Lone urged the government to form managing committees in a time-bound manner. He recommended that these committees include educationists and respected members of society to ensure effective governance.
Lone also cautioned that any delay or drop in academic standards could have serious consequences, including increased unemployment in the region. He stressed that maintaining the schools’ academic excellence must be a top priority moving forward.(KNS).
