Handwara Dec 29 (KNS): The Senior Superintendent of Police (SP) Handwara on Friday issued a clear warning to drug peddlers, stating that police will follow a zero-tolerance policy against the drug trade. He said anyone found involved in drug trafficking will face strict legal action, with no relaxation.
The SP said the police have launched a focused campaign to fight drug abuse and stressed that public support is necessary to make this drive successful. He said drug addiction is harming society, especially the youth, and can only be controlled through joint efforts of police and the community.

During the interaction, the SP also called upon religious leaders, senior citizens and members of Auqaf Committees to take an active role in awareness campaigns. He said Friday sermons and other public gatherings should be used to inform people about the dangers of drug abuse and the rising cases of cyber fraud.
He also advised people to stay alert against online scams and guide others, especially elderly persons and youth, on how to stay safe in the digital space.
Police officials said that action against drug traffickers and cyber criminals will be intensified in the coming days as part of the ongoing drive.(KNS)
