Srinagar, Dec 22 (KNS): A meeting under chairmanship of Commissioner SMC was held on Saturday regarding progress under different components of Swachh Bharat Mission Urban for upcoming Survekshan here at central Municipal Office Karan Nagar.
Besides consultant Ministry of Housing and Urban Affair Danish Mushtaq, Chief Sanitation Officer Sufi Akbar, Solid Waste Management Officer Nazir Ahmed Baba, Swachh Bharat Mission Officer Mohhamad Squad and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
During the course of meeting different components of Solid Waste Management including Status of open defecation free, I.E.C and Information Communication Technology were reviewed at length.
While discussing waste segregation it was informed that source segregation and door to door collection is being taken up in various wards and improvising gradually.
Commissioner SMC Peerzada Haffizullah said that many steps including awareness on open defecation, waste segregation at source, has been taken up by creating awareness programs on TV and Radio.
Besides this, awareness programs in schools, Colleges, communities, Mohhalla,s is being conducted by the empanelled NGO,s on regular basis. (KNS)
