SKUAST-Kashmir Concludes 25 days Skill Development Training Programme

Srinagar March 19 (KNS):  Faculty of Forestry, of SKUAST-Kashmir Benhama Ganderbal campus concludes 25 days skill development training programme on Medicinal & Aromatic Plants Grower. 

Saurabh Bhagat IAS, Commissioner Secretary to Govt. Science & Technology Department graced the occasion as Chief Guest Saurab Bhagat lauded the Forestry Faculty's efforts to provide job-oriented skills to Kashmir youth in this demanding sector. Other dignitaries who attend the event included Prof. MAA Sidiquie Director Education, Prof. Sarfaraz Wani Director Research, Prof. T.H. Masoodi Registrar, Prof. HR Naik Director Planning and Prof. S.A. Gangoo Dean Faculty of Forestry, SKAUST K. Other invited guests on the occasion were Prof. Sheikh Bilal, Regional Director RCFC Nr II, Dr. Nasir Shah, Jt. Director JKST, Prof. A.H. Mughal Asso Director Research SKUAST K, Prof. JA. Mughloo Head KVK Pulwama. All the HoD’s, faculty of forestry, trainees and students attended event. Guests were welcomed by Prof. P.A. Sofi HoD FPU. Dr. Sofi briefed the gathering about the programe highlights. Dr. T. H. Masoodi Registrar SKUAST-Kashmir spoke about the importance and relevance of Startups in MAPs. Dr.S. A. Gangoo Dean Forestry also spoke on the occasion.

Vote of thanks was presented by Prof. AA Wani HoD NRM. The main objective of the training programme was to train the unemployed educated youth for entrepreneurship development in medicinal and aromatic plants. On the concluding day nursery tool kits and planting material were provided to the trainees for startups. The 25 days training program was coordinated by Dr. Peerzada Ishtiyak Ahmad Asstt. Professor Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST K. The program was anchored by Ms. Mir Muskan Un Nisa, PhD Scholar of the Faculty.(KNS)
