Srinagar, June 12 (KNS): Advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam, on Thursday said that reviving tourism in Kargil and Gurez is crucial for the overall revival of tourism in Kashmir.
According to KNS, Aslam made these remarks during the launch of a familiarization (FAM) tour to Kargil by TASC. He said Kargil and Kashmir are united by shared history, business, and cultural ties. “Reviving Kargil and Gurez tourism is key to reviving Kashmir tourism — we are different in geography, but united in heart, history, and hospitality,” he said.
Kargil was once a preferred destination for foreign travellers due to its adventure tourism potential and numerous peaks above 5,000 meters, he added.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
As per KNS, Advisor said they have requested the Lieutenant Governor to reopen popular and safe tourist destinations such as the Tulip Garden, Badamwari, Beda Valley, Dodhpathri, and Gurez. He emphasized that keeping these locations closed not only disappoints visiting tourists but also hampers the growth of the local tourism sector.
Nasir Aslam appreciated TASC’s efforts in promoting pilgrimage, leisure, and adventure tourism, adding that the fam tour to Kargil would help restore confidence and open new opportunities in the region.(KNS)
