Calls for early elections, promotes border tourism at Gurez tribal festival
Gurez, Aug 7 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has once again urged the Centre to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir without further delay. Speaking at a tribal festival in Gurez, Omar referred to the Supreme Court’s verdict on Article 370, which called for timely elections and the return of statehood.
“A lot of time has passed since that decision,” as per KNS Omar said. “The court had also spoken about holding elections and giving statehood back to Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible. That must now happen.”
CM said the tribal festival was a positive step in bringing people together from across the country.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“Visitors from Assam, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and other places got the opportunity to see Gurez and its unique culture maybe for the first time in their lives,” he said.
He noted that such events help people understand the diversity of India, including its languages, food, and traditions.
CM Omar said that peaceful border tourism can become a tool for progress in remote areas.
“We want tourism to grow in places like Gurez, Karnah, Keran, and Machil. Similar efforts should also be made in the border areas of Jammu,” he said. “This is one way to reduce unemployment and improve the local economy.”(KNS)
