Srinagar, 13 Aug (KNS): The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar Wednesday met with party functionaries at Nawa-e-Subha Srinagar. He reiterated the party’s commitment to the democratic mandate given by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and stressed the importance of allowing the Omar Abdullah-led government to work freely and without hindrance.

In a statement issued ,He emphasized that the restoration of J&K’s statehood remains a non-negotiable first step toward the restoration of the region’s political, constitutional, and democratic rights. “Statehood is central to empowering the people and reinstating their confidence in institutions. It is the foundation upon which the future of our youth and our democracy depends,” he said.

He said that the National Conference government has been elected for a full five-year term and that it is fully committed to delivering on its promises during this tenure. “We have a clear roadmap. He lauded the ongoing efforts of the Omar Abdullah-led administration to bring the government closer to people. He highlighted how the government has successfully bridged the longstanding gap between the administration and the public, citing initiatives such as opening the civil secretariat to common citizens, which has enabled better public access and responsiveness. “This move reflects our commitment to transparency, accountability, and participatory governance,” he added.

The meeting also focused on strengthening the party’s grassroots connect. Sagar urged the functionaries to remain proactive in engaging with the public, listening to their concerns, and ensuring that people feel represented and heard. He emphasized the importance of organizational discipline, unity, and commitment to the party's core principles.(KNS)
