Bandipora, Jan 26 (KNS): Like other parts of the state and country, the 69th Republic Day was celebrated at Bandipora with enthusiasm, traditional fervor and gaiety here on Today.
The Main function was held at Shere Kashmir Sports Stadium, Bandipora where Minister for Youth Services & Sports, Technical Education and IT, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari was the chief guest and unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the March past, Presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Fire & Emergency Services, NCC cadets and School Children.
Later, students of various schools, Youth Services and Sports presented a scintillating cultural bonanza on the occasion. The programme received a great
applause from the audience particularly.
Addressing the function, the Minister gave the historical background of the Republic Day, said that Republic Day is the most significant day in the history of the country as the country has become Republic on this day and the
Constitution of India, the basic framework of governance framed by great leader B.R. Ambedkar was implemented from this Day.
Imran while Recalling the sacrifices of great leaders of the country
for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and amity said that leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, J.L. Nehru laid a strong edifice for brotherhood, amity and communal harmony besides for the composite culture of the country.
Referring the developmental scenario of the district, the Minister said that the government headed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is committed for overall development of the state, including district Bandipora. He said during current financial year 22 development projects including 12 roads, 8 water supply schemes and 2 bridges have been completed, besides,724 Rural Development Works generating 1.90 lakh mandays of work also completed while as 125 kilometre road length was macadamized in the district during the year.
The Minister said that various mega projects including District Hospital are nearing completion which would be commissioned during this year.
Minister said that various welfare and developmental schemes have been launched to improve the socio-economic conditions of the rural masses adding that
agriculture sector has been prioritized to ensure economic development of the people.
Later the Minister gave away the prizes to contingents and students who performed best in the parade and cultural programme. The awards were also given to students for their outstanding performance in the academics during the year.
On the Occasion Mohammad Sayeed Beigh of Etv and Wahid Rafiqi of DD Kashmir were also Awarded with Certificates and Trophies for their Commendable Performance in the field of Journalism and Highlighting Public Issues. (KNS)
