Srinagar, Sep 15 (KNS): For exorbitant hike in fee and non-compliance of orders from the Department, the recognition of two leading private schools of Srinagar viz., RP School Mallabagh and Green Valley Educational Institute, Ellahibagh has been suspended. An order vide no. DSEK/GS/1418-25/2018, dated: 14-09-2018 has been issued in this regard and another communication vide no. DSEK/GS/1069-70, dated: 03-07-2018 was forwarded to Joint Secretary JKBOSE and Principal DIET Srinagar wherein they were instructed not to entertain any affair of the schools till further instructions from the Directorate. DSEK also directed to adjust the enrolled students of these schools in nearby Government High/Secondary School for ensuing examination 2018.
DSEK Dr. G.N. Itoo has cautioned all the Head of the Private Institutions not to hike the fee on their own and comply with the instructions and orders from the Department in letter and spirit. DSEK said that the authority for any hike in fee of private schools lies with Fee Fixation Committee of the Department and any hike without the prior approval from said Committee is against the norms.
The Director School Education Kashmir has appealed the parents to bring into the notice of the Department any compliant regarding the arbitrary hike in fee and other related issues so that the erring Institutions are made accountable and timely action against them under norms is initiated.
DSEK said that some parents of the students enrolled in these Institutions had lodged complaint in JK Government Grievance Cell and also with the Department that these Institutions had exorbitantly hiked the tuition fee without the prior approval of the competent authority in the backdrop of which an enquiry was ordered. While giving the references of RP School Mallabagh and Green Valley Educational Institute Ellahibagh, DSEK told that regarding the hike in fee by these Institutions, the report from Chief Education Officer Srinagar has also been received by the Department according to which RP School Mallabagh had enhanced the fee above 18% for various classes which is against the norms laid by the Government.
