Rana Reviews Progress on Nishat, Alusteng Water Filtration Plant Upgrades

Srinagar, August 09 (KNS): Jal Shakti Minister Javed Ahmed Rana today conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing upgradation works at the Nishat and Alusteng Water Filtration Plants, aimed at strengthening Srinagar’s potable water infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water to residents.

During the visit, the Minister inspected various operational units, including water reservoirs, pump rooms, testing laboratories, and storage facilities, and reviewed the progress on the 3.0 MGD plant at Nishat and the 5.5 MGD plant at Alusteng.

Officials informed that the plants are crucial for supplying treated drinking water to a large section of Srinagar’s population and that the upgradation works are progressing steadily.

Rana stressed adherence to project timelines, immediate procurement of Alum, adoption of modern best practices, and regular maintenance to ensure a continuous high-quality water supply.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe reiterated the government’s commitment, under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, to provide clean drinking water to every household in Jammu & Kashmir.

Highlighting the Valley’s natural water wealth, the Minister underscored the responsibility to safeguard resources from pollution, overuse, and neglect, and called for stringent hygiene measures around treatment facilities.

The Minister was accompanied by the Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti Kashmir, Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Srinagar, Executive Engineers, and other senior officials. The Chief Engineer assured the Minister of the timely completion of the upgradation works.(KNS)
